The etymology of bespoke: The word bespoke is derived from the verb to bespeak, to “speak for something”, or “to give order for it to be made” The term bespoke in fashion is reserved for individually patterned and crafted men’s clothing and often implies a high level of fit and finish. So what does bespoke mean as it relates to writing? I have no idea. I just like the word and the idea of an item that’s crafted with purpose and meaning. I’ve also carried many nicknames down through the years and an early grade school nickname was “B”.
So, “B” spoke. It’s the difference between a sentence that could appear anywhere and one that could only exist in this exact piece, written by this exact person about this exact thing.
